Experimental investigation on single-medium stratified thermal energy storage system

چکیده

The demand for renewable energy sources is limited by their inherent intermittent nature. thermal storage technique overcomes this shortcoming allowing of naturally occurring (e.g. solar) during “non-peak hours”. article presents an experimental investigation the sparsely studied ‘single medium thermocline’ (SMT) based single tank sensible (TES). work aims to reconsider its potential minimizing fluid dynamic perturbations charging cycle which disrupt stability thermocline leading undesirable losses. discusses effect Atwood number (density stratification) and mean temperature on TES effectiveness as well providing appropriate thermodynamic insights. Implementation procedures strategies discussed in demonstrates a stable persists more than 6 h (hours) with minimal degradation.
